To find out what council tax band you and your neighbour’s property is, go to www.saa.gov.uk. (Please note: this button takes you to an external website for which Citizens Advice Scotland is not responsible)
Bear in mind that there may be a reason for neighbouring properties to have a different council tax band, for example if they have different features, or have been adapted in a way which affects their value.
If you find that you are in a higher band for council tax than your neighbours, and there is no apparent reason for this, you can appeal against your banding at the Scottish Assessors website by making "a proposal." Please note that making a proposal can affect your neighbours' council tax banding as well.
